RES-LOK ELECTRA October 2010
A major consideration in the design infrastructure for all public building environments is the necessity to balance the need for safety with the vital provision of emergency egress when required.
Whilst it is well recognised that restrictor devices play a fundamental role in preventing accidental falls from windows, in the event of a fire the safety benefits of a restrictors could have a potentially contra effect, at best delaying escape via the window for valuable minutes or at worst, by nature of the restrictor design, act as a physical barrier totally preventing the use of the window as a means of escape.
To address the need for a viable escape route in an emergency fire exit situation, the new award winning Res-Lok Electra Fire Alarm Activated Electronic Restrictor conforms to BS EN 14351: -2006, clause 4.8 and has been specifically developed to provide a fully automatic solution that meets the requirements of both safety and emergency egress.
Designed and manufactured in the UK by J.Banks Ltd, one of Europe's leading door and window hardware manufacturers, the unique Res-Lok Electra window restrictor is designed to constantly monitor the buildings fire alarm system. In normal operation the unit works as a conventional mechanical restrictor, however in the event of a fire alarm activation the Electra unit automatically disengages from its restrictor mode allowing the window to be opened to a full 90°+. Once the emergency is over the unit is re-armed and the restrictor automatically re-engaged.
The face fix, easy to install Res-Lok Electra offers a durable Stainless Steel, Zinc and Aluminium construction and can be mains powered or operate with long life battery cells, complete with a LED battery condition indicator.
